Unfinished wood will weather outdoors without protection. For outdoor use, I recommend sealing the finished sign with a clear exterior polyurethane or spar urethane — available at any hardware store. The engraving itself is permanent regardless of finish; you're just protecting the wood from moisture and UV. Covered porch applications hold up better than fully exposed weather conditions.
The Thunder Nova 51 has a 20" × 28" engraving bed. Signs up to that size are one piece. For larger signs, we can tile the design across panels or work with customer-supplied solid wood. Contact us for large-format requests and we'll discuss what's possible.
Often yes. Text us a photo of the piece and its dimensions before bringing it in. We'll confirm it works with the laser and discuss placement. Slabs with significant warping or uneven thickness may not be compatible.
