Home service businesses have the same recognition problem as every trade: the crews doing the work are hard to hire, expensive to replace, and almost never receive anything physical acknowledging what they do. In Southwest Florida, where landscaping and pool service run year-round and labor is genuinely scarce, that is a retention problem with a cheap partial solution.

Crew Recognition
Years of service. Tenure in the trades is worth marking because it is uncommon. Someone who has stayed five years is someone you want to keep another five.
Safety milestones. Days or months without an incident, at a company or crew level. Safety recognition is one of the few award categories where the award itself changes behavior, and it is standard practice in larger construction firms while being rare in smaller service companies.
Crew leader and foreman recognition.
Certification milestones — pool operator certifications, pesticide applicator licenses, equipment certifications. Real effort, rarely acknowledged.
What works physically: durable, useful items rather than display pieces. A crew working outside all day in Florida uses an insulated tumbler constantly. A plaque sits somewhere. For field crews, the tumbler is the better gift, and it is worth being honest about that rather than defaulting to an award format.
Why Drinkware Specifically
For outdoor crews in this climate, insulated drinkware is not a novelty gift — it is equipment.

Choose a durable coated blank. Job site conditions are hard on finishes, and a cheap coating will not survive a season.
Client Gifts
Project completion pieces for large installations — a landscape renovation, a pool build, a major remodel. An engraved keepsake marking the project and the year.
Anniversary recognition for long-term service clients. In recurring service businesses, the clients who have been with you for years are the ones worth keeping, and they almost never hear from you except through invoices.
Referral thank-you gifts. Home services run heavily on referrals. A personalized piece for a client who sent you work is a stronger signal than a discount, and it does not devalue your pricing.
Keep the branding small. A gift dominated by a company logo is a promotional item. Small mark, client's details on the front.

For anything living outdoors in Southwest Florida, material choice matters more than the engraving. Anodized aluminum and quality powder-coated metal both hold up. Printed materials fade and cheap coatings corrode, particularly near the coast.
Practical Notes
Order in batches once a year. A single annual order covering service milestones, safety recognition, and a buffer for new hires costs less and is more likely to actually happen than reacting each time.
Names get used, so spell them right. Crews notice, and a misspelled name on a piece someone carries daily is a running joke you do not want.
Quantities are usually modest — ten, twenty, thirty pieces. Normal and workable.
